DOOM Now Playable on Apple Devices via Lightning/HDMI Adapter

The DOOM community's inventive spirit knows no bounds, constantly pushing the limits of where the game can run. A recent feat showcases this perfectly: NyanSatan successfully executed the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter.

This adapter, as the creator revealed, boasts its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocking up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the firmware and then launching the game, utilizing a MacBook to handle firmware transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.

A new DOOM iteration is on the horizon, promising increased accessibility. In DOOM: The Dark Ages, players will gain extensive control over demon aggression via in-game settings. Accessibility is a core development principle, leading to far more customization options than previous id Software titles.

Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the studio's commitment to accessibility. Players will be able to adjust enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and even broader aspects like game tempo, aggression levels, and parry timing.

Furthermore, Stratton confirmed that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal.
