Surprise Patch for Dishonored 2: Bug Fixes and Language Updates

Dishonored 2, a critically acclaimed Bethesda title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, has received a small, unexpected update across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. This minor patch appears focused on bug fixes and language file updates. The update's size is minimal (230MB), though Xbox users report needing a full 40GB re-download.

Arkane Lyon, the studio behind Dishonored 2 and the recent Deathloop, is currently occupied with the development of Marvel's Blade, a collaboration with Marvel Games. This update arrives amidst the recent closure of Arkane Austin, the studio responsible for the original Dishonored, Prey, and Redfall.

The lack of a performance enhancement, particularly a highly requested 60 FPS mode, has disappointed some fans. While other Arkane titles run at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, Dishonored 2 remains locked at 30 FPS. Even the original Dishonored and its standalone spin-off, Death of the Outsider, benefit from enhanced performance on newer consoles. The possibility of a 60 FPS patch for the game's tenth anniversary in 2026 remains open, though it's unclear if this would be sufficient to satisfy player expectations.

The future of the Dishonored franchise is uncertain, with the closure of Arkane Austin potentially delaying any future installments. Arkane Lyon's current focus on Marvel's Blade further contributes to this uncertainty, with no release date currently announced for the Marvel title.
