Digimon Story: Time Stranger Listing Leaks Before PlayStation Showcase
A new Digimon video game titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger has reportedly leaked through GameStop, just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation.
The leak was first spotted by Gematsu, who shared store links for pre-ordering the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. These GameStop listings, while lacking any images or gameplay details, suggest that an official announcement could be imminent.
The timing of this leak is particularly notable as it comes mere hours before Sony’s latest State of Play presentation. Although the content of the show remains undisclosed, Sony has promised 40 minutes of reveals. Given the recent appearance of pre-order listings for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, it wouldn't be surprising if the digital monster series features in tonight's event.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history that dates back to the mid-2000s with the original Digimon Story released on the Nintendo DS. Since then, numerous sequels and spin-offs have been released across various platforms, including notable titles like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017. A Complete Edition bundling both Cyber Sleuth games was also released in 2019.
In these games, players typically enter the Digimon world to befriend and battle with digital monsters in an RPG format. While franchise producer Kazumashu Habu hinted at a new Digimon Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment. Although Digimon Survive helped bridge the gap, the potential reveal of Digimon Story: Time Stranger could signal the end of a long wait for a true sequel in the series.
