Defeating the Blade Phantom in The First Berserker: Khazan - Strategy Guide
Boss battles in *The First Berserker: Khazan* can be a real challenge, especially when you're not fully prepared for the twists and turns that come with them. If you're gearing up to face the Blade Phantom, here's a comprehensive guide to help you conquer this formidable foe.
Phase 1
In *The First Berserker: Khazan*, the Blade Phantom emerges as a spectral menace on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level in Stormpass. This boss, true to its name, tests your ability to balance stamina management and aggressive tactics with its relentless onslaught. It's your first multi-phase boss encounter, making it even more crucial to master.
The battle kicks off in a castle flooded with a crimson liquid, setting an ominous tone. The Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks, including:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being a delayed attack.
- A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo that starts with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ends with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo with flashing punches, followed by a grab that you must dodge.
Beyond these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and spawning red spikes. If it opts for a spear, brace for a quick throw and a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it executes a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is key. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can find openings to attack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the transition to Phase 2.
Phase 2
In the second phase, the Blade Phantom initiates with four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Evade the spear's impact zone and prepare for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.
While the Blade Phantom retains many of its earlier moves, it introduces new claw attacks and increases its teleportation frequency. Be vigilant for the spear thrust and follow-up, as well as the swift dual-wielding attacks. When wielding the greatsword, watch for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable.
Exploit these moments to deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina and initiate a Brutal Attack just as the window is about to close. This strategy maximizes damage and paves the way for victory. Upon defeating the boss, you'll earn 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
