The Blood of Dawnwalker Aims For AAA Quality

30-40 Hour Main Campaign

In a recent interview with Games Radar, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, the creative director of The Blood of Dawnwalker, emphasized that despite being a smaller studio launching their first game, the team at Rebel Wolves is committed to delivering a quality experience comparable to CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3.

When discussing the classification of their game within the gaming industry's spectrum, Tomaszkiewicz clarified, "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3."

Rebel Wolves, though a new studio, is comprised of seasoned developers who previously worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt Red. The studio was founded by Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz and his brother Konrad to pursue greater creative freedom in their game development, free from the constraints of a larger AAA studio environment.

Tomaszkiewicz further explained, "Definitely, our games are not as huge in terms of amount of content and gameplay hours - we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we definitely are building something smaller. But we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter." He noted that The Blood of Dawnwalker aims for a 30-40 hour main campaign, which might not match typical AAA game lengths but maintains high-quality standards. He questioned the relevance of game size as a defining factor, citing examples like Call of Duty, which, despite shorter campaigns, are not considered AA or indie.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to be a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in the mystical land of Vale Sangora. Players will embody Coen, a young peasant transformed into a vampire, on a quest to save his ailing sister. This journey will take him through the dark and hostile landscapes of Vale Sangora.

While an exact release date has not been announced, The Blood of Dawnwalker is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal in Summer 2025.
