Console Players Join Skate Playtest
Skate Playtest Now Available on Consoles!
The highly anticipated skateboarding game, skate., is finally available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles! Previously limited to PC players since mid-2022, this marks the first opportunity for console gamers to experience a new Skate title in over 15 years – the last release being Skate 3 in 2010.
EA's decision to revive the franchise after a long hiatus, fueled by persistent fan demand (#Skate4), resulted in the creation of a dedicated development studio. While full early access is slated for 2025, this console playtest represents significant progress.
The playtest, announced on skate.'s official Twitter, is accessible through the skate. Insider program, requiring registration. A recent video from the development team confirmed more Black hairstyle options and addressed the previously announced "Fall 2024" playtest timeframe.
skate. is confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service game set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, a work-in-progress inspired by various real-world and previous Skate game locations. While a map leaked in 2023, its current state remains unknown. Players can either join the playtest now or await the wider early access release.
Other Skateboarding Games to Enjoy in the Meantime
While the 2025 early access launch date is anticipated, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, several other skateboarding games are available to keep fans entertained until skate.'s full release.
