Captain America: Brave New World Projected to Beat Estimates With $100 Million Domestic Box Office Over Presidents Day Weekend

Captain America: Brave New World surpasses expectations, raking in an estimated $100 million domestically during its Presidents Day weekend debut.

Comscore reports the latest Marvel Studios film grossed approximately $88.5 million across 4,105 theaters over the three-day weekend, projecting a four-day total of $100 million. Adding its impressive $92.4 million international haul, the film's global weekend box office is estimated at $192.4 million.

Deadline reveals a production budget of $180 million, with a break-even point estimated at $425 million globally.

This strong opening places Captain America: Brave New World as the fourth-highest-grossing Presidents Day release, trailing only three other superhero films: Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million).

Despite mixed critical reception—IGN awarded it a 5/10, criticizing its unoriginality despite strong performances from Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Carl Lumbly—the film's success is crucial for Marvel. Its performance will determine if it can reverse the recent downturn in MCU box office numbers (excluding last year's successful Deadpool & Wolverine), setting the stage for the upcoming Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
