Capcom Registers Dino Crisis Trademark

Author : Nathan Update : Mar 31,2025

Capcom has recently filed an application to register the Dino Crisis trademark in Japan, and the submission is now publicly available. Although this doesn't confirm the release of a new game, it strongly suggests that the company is actively exploring opportunities related to the franchise.

By securing the Dino Crisis trademark, Capcom may be laying the groundwork for future projects, potentially including a remake of the iconic dinosaur survival horror series. Originally created by Shinji Mikami, the mastermind behind Resident Evil, Dino Crisis debuted in 1999 on the PlayStation 1. The series spawned two sequels but went quiet after the release of its third installment in 2003, leaving fans puzzled and eager for more.

These speculations are far from baseless. Last year, Capcom announced its intention to "revitalize older franchises that haven’t seen new releases in recent years." This announcement came shortly after the reveal of Okami Sequel and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Additionally, during a fan-driven poll conducted by Capcom in the summer of 2024, Dino Crisis emerged as the top choice in the "most desired continuation" category, further fueling hopes for its return.
