Camper Awaits Switch 2 at San Francisco Nintendo Store Before Official Opening

Author : Connor Update : May 04,2025

The excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, and it's not just about the console itself but also the new Nintendo Store in San Francisco, set to open on May 15. YouTube content creator Super Cafe has taken his enthusiasm to the next level by flying over 800 miles to camp out at the store, which isn't even open yet. His goal? To be the first in line on the west coast for both the store's grand opening and the anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.

In a video released on April 8, Super Cafe shared his journey and plans to camp out for the next two months. Despite having just moved into his apartment two months ago, he humorously acknowledged the financial impracticality of his decision but remains undeterred. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares," he quipped.

Super Cafe isn't alone in his dedication. Another YouTube creator is similarly camping out at the New York Nintendo store, aiming to be first in line for the Switch 2 there. While Super Cafe is mostly going solo, he's open to connecting with others who might join him in San Francisco. He plans to address questions about his accommodations, food, showers, and other essentials in a future Q&A.

The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, has a long history. With dedicated fans like Super Cafe and others at both coastal Nintendo stores, it's clear that the excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 is building momentum. Whether this sparks a trend of more campers remains to be seen, but the dedication is undeniable.
