Call of Duty: Warzone Lobbies Crashing
Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still underway, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
Warzone's recent troubles follow a challenging 2024 for the franchise. Matchmaking outages and persistent cheating and bug reports have plagued the game. This latest issue, reported on January 6th, involves freezes and crashes during loading, prompting an investigation by Raven Software.
Although the root cause remains unpatched (as of the Trello bug tracker), a January 9th Twitter announcement revealed a temporary fix: Skill Rating penalties and timeouts are suspended for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns about unjust penalties stemming from the glitch. Penalties will still apply for mid-match disconnections.
This temporary measure offers some relief, but the underlying bug persists even after a major January 2025 update. The ongoing issues, particularly affecting Ranked play, are understandably frustrating for players. Raven Software is actively working to resolve these problems.
