Renowned Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his iconic roles in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and other major titles, has shared an emotional update while recovering after being discovered unconscious in his hotel room.

In a video posted to a successful GoFundMe campaign that has raised $174,653 for medical expenses, Johnson revealed he had been in a medically induced coma. "I discovered there's overwhelming love in this world I never knew existed, and I'm profoundly grateful to every single one of you," the actor expressed.

"Rumors of my demise weren't exaggerated"

Johnson, who also serves as the Washington Capitals' arena announcer, was in Atlanta to host an Alzheimer's Foundation benefit when the medical emergency occurred. After failing to appear at the event, his wife Kimberly contacted hotel security who found him in critical condition.

"My survival is thanks to my wife's quick thinking in calling the hotel during the Alzheimer's Association event when I didn't show," Johnson explained. "Medical professionals struggled to find a pulse when they reached me."

The veteran voice actor spent five days in a coma before learning about the GoFundMe organized by friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker alongside his wife. "This experience has shown me incredible compassion from people worldwide," Johnson reflected.

Gratitude for the gaming community

Johnson extended heartfelt thanks to several key supporters:

  • The National Alzheimer's Association for arranging his family's travel and accommodations
  • Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis for a generous $25,000 donation
  • Close friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker
  • Bethesda Game Studios for their public show of support

"To Bethesda - you call me your friend, and I truly am," Johnson said emotionally. "That bond will always remain. To all the fans who've supported me through donations or kind words - I treasure each of you. I'm not going anywhere."

Looking toward recovery

While acknowledging his rehabilitation will take time, the actor remained optimistic: "My journey back will take patience, but I'm determined to return. I look forward to the day you'll hear my voice again."

Best known for memorable Bethesda roles including:

  • Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
  • Multiple Daedric Princes in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
  • Fawkes in Fallout 3
  • Hermaeus Mora in Skyrim
  • Ron Hope in Starfield

Johnson's illustrious career spans numerous television and film appearances alongside his extensive video game legacy.
