Balatro hit a huge sales milestone
The indie roguelike Balatro, developed by a single person, has become a phenomenal success story. Last year's surprise hit has now sold over 5 million copies, exceeding even the most optimistic projections.
Just a month ago, the developer, LocalThunk, celebrated reaching 3.5 million sales. This astonishing growth, adding 1.5 million copies in roughly 40 days, is likely attributable to the significant boost from The Game Awards, as hinted by the developer.
Harvey Elliott, CEO of Playstack, the game's publisher, lauded this achievement as truly remarkable, expressing immense pride in both LocalThunk and the Playstack team.
Balatro's success continues. The card-based roguelike remains popular nearly a year after its release, consistently receiving updates and exciting collaborations, recently setting a new record for concurrent players on Steam.
