Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series
As if fans could resist seeing Alicia Silverstone back in that iconic yellow and plaid ensemble. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series, which is currently in development with Peacock.
While plot details remain under wraps, we know that the series will continue the story from the original 1995 film. This project marks a fresh approach, distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had planned back in 2020.
The creative team behind this new series is impressive. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, will be writing the series alongside Jordan Weiss. They will also executive produce the show, joined by Amy Heckerling, the writer-director of the original Clueless film, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce the series.
This isn't the first time Clueless has been adapted for the small screen. Following the film's success, a television version aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten suggests she's eager to step back into Cher's shoes—and we can't wait to see what fashion statements she'll make next.
