Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

Author : Evelyn Update : May 21,2025

Krafton has officially rebranded Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons as part of their strategy to distance themselves from Ironmace Studios' ongoing legal entanglements with Nexon. The name change primarily affects the title and possibly some elements specific to the Dungeons & Dragons theme, while the core gameplay remains unchanged.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Ironmace Studios is currently in a legal dispute with Nexon, who alleges that Ironmace misused trade secrets. Nexon claims that former employees who founded Ironmace used assets and ideas from their time at Nexon to develop Dark and Darker. The lawsuit continues, and as previously reported in February, there were indications that a name change for Dark and Darker Mobile was on the horizon. That change has now been confirmed with the new name, Abyss of Dungeons.

ytNo differenceThe rebranding to Abyss of Dungeons fortunately does not alter the core gameplay mechanics. Although Dark and Darker Mobile was already set to diverge from the original with a third-person perspective and other modifications, fans can rest assured that the essence of the game remains intact.

This development may be disappointing for fans of Ironmace, but there is hope that the legal issues will be resolved soon. Meanwhile, enthusiasts of Dark and Darker can look forward to Abyss of Dungeons as a complementary mobile experience to the main PC version. An upcoming soft launch is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
