May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie

Author : Joseph Update : May 15,2025

It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has been leaked. While Sony has yet to confirm anything, rumors are swirling that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, will be available as a free download for PlayStation players next month. The key art hints at the possibility of it being the Until Dawn Remastered rather than the original 2014 version, though we won't know for sure until an official announcement is made.

PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Subscribers at the Extra and Premium levels also have access to a vast catalog of current and classic games. However, the monthly free games are accessible to all PlayStation Plus members, regardless of their subscription tier.

Speculation from members of the PlayStation community on Reddit, as noted by PushSquare, suggests that this move could be tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie, which hit theaters just before the weekend. Unfortunately, the movie didn't live up to expectations, earning a 5/10 rating from IGN, with our review stating, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received the same score from us, with IGN's review describing it as an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game from Supermassive was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.

In other PlayStation Plus news, 22 games are slated to be removed from the library next month, including high-profile titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, as well as the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Once these games are pulled, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
