11 Bit Studios, the acclaimed Polish developer, has unveiled a new trailer for their highly anticipated sci-fi adventure, The Alters, which is inching closer to its 2025 release. In this latest preview, the studio also took a nostalgic look back at their landmark title, This War of Mine, which garnered worldwide acclaim over a decade ago for its poignant depiction of wartime survival.

While This War of Mine is renowned for its somber and despairing atmosphere, The Alters offers a shift towards a more passionate and frequently humorous narrative, focusing on the trials and tribulations of different versions of the protagonist, Jan Dolski. Despite the stark differences in tone, 11 Bit Studios highlights a deep thematic link between the two games.

At their core, both titles are fundamentally about survival, albeit in contrasting environments. In This War of Mine, players are thrust into the brutal realities of a war-torn city, managing scarce resources and facing daily challenges to keep their group of civilians alive. Conversely, The Alters presents survival as a frantic race against time, where players must continuously relocate their mobile base to escape the destructive path of a relentless sun that reduces everything to dust.

Both games challenge players to step beyond their comfort zones, venturing into perilous territories in search of vital resources.
