Japanese Mahjong is an engaging tile-based game that follows a unique set of rules distinct to its style. In this game, players use a slider on the screen to select and discard tiles, aiming to complete a winning hand composed of four melds and one pair.

How to Play

To play, you'll move the slider to select a tile and tap to discard it. A winning hand typically looks like this: [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4]. However, certain hands are not valid if they involve Chi (claiming a tile to complete a sequence), Pon (claiming a tile to complete a set of three identical tiles), or Open Kan (claiming a tile to complete a set of four identical tiles).

It's important to be aware that hands involving Chi or Pon with the numbers 1 and 9 might not be valid. In Japanese Mahjong, having at least one valid hand is necessary. You can enhance your hand by paying 1,000 points to declare "Reach," which signifies a ready hand. Note that you cannot declare Reach if you have performed Chi, Pon, or Open Kan.

If your hand remains closed (no tiles claimed from other players), you can earn higher points.

Understanding Lost Hand

A "Lost Hand" occurs when a player is in a waiting state but cannot win from another player's discard because they have already discarded a winning tile themselves. Even with a Lost Hand, you can still win by self-drawing a tile. The key is to avoid winning off another player's discard (Ron) with a tile you've discarded yourself.

Strategy

To maximize your chances of winning, carefully observe the discards of other players and strategically plan your own discards to complete your hand without losing potential winning tiles.
