Le film puise son inspiration créative dans Nuit au Musée, Retour vers le Futur, et Big, aux côtés de franchises de jouets à succès comme Barbie. Alors que le casting n'est pas encore annoncé, Johnson, Goldberg, Timothy I. Stevenson et Elena Sandoval produiront aux côtés de Kim Miller Olko de Toys "R" Us Studios.
