Application Description

Button Mapper revolutionizes the way you interact with your device by allowing you to remap hardware buttons to launch any app, shortcut, or custom action. With simple configurations, you can assign a single press, double press, or long press to execute a variety of tasks, enhancing your device's usability and tailoring it to your specific needs.

This powerful tool supports remapping for most physical or capacitive keys and buttons, including volume buttons, assist buttons, and capacitive home, back, and recent apps keys. Moreover, Button Mapper extends its functionality to many gamepads, remotes, and other peripheral devices, making it a versatile solution for all your button remapping needs. While root access is not mandatory for most actions, certain advanced features may require an adb command from a connected PC if your device is not rooted. It's important to note that Button Mapper does not function when the screen is off unless your device is rooted or you utilize an adb command.

Here are some examples of what you can achieve with Button Mapper:

  • Long press to toggle your flashlight
  • Remap your TV remote control
  • Press to broadcast custom intents, scripts, or commands
  • Long press to open the camera and take a photo

  • Many headset buttons
  • Custom buttons on your phone, headphones, gamepads, TV remote, and other peripheral devices

Additional customization options include:

  • Changing the long press or double tap duration
  • Delaying the initial button press for better double tap operation

  • Plus many more customizations

For troubleshooting, ensure that the Button Mapper accessibility service is enabled and allowed to run in the background. Note that Button Mapper does not work with onscreen buttons (such as soft keys or the navigation bar) or the power button. The options displayed in the app will vary depending on the buttons available on your phone, as not all devices have home, back, and recents buttons.

Button Mapper uses Accessibility services to detect when physical or capacitive buttons are pressed, allowing them to be remapped to custom actions to meet your needs. It does not collect or share any personal information, ensuring your privacy is respected.

This app also requires the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) to lock the screen if the "Turn screen off" action is selected. To remove this permission, open Button Mapper, click on the menu (three dots in the upper right corner), and select "Uninstall."
