Robert Eggers, réalisateur acclamé du film d'horreur gothique Nosferatu , devrait diriger une suite du bien-aimé Fantasy Classic, Labyrinth .

Selon Variety, Eggers encadrera et dirigera ce suivi du chef-d'œuvre Dark Fantasy de Jim Henson en 1986, avec David Bowie et Jennifer Connelly. Il collaborera sur le script avec Sjón, son partenaire d'écriture sur le Northman . Alors qu'une suite était auparavant en développement avec Scott Derrickson (directeur de Sinister ) attaché, Tristar et Jim Henson Pictures ont opté pour la vision d'Eggers après un manque de progrès depuis 2023.

Le labyrinth original , sorti en 1986, a présenté Bowie comme le gobelin King Jareth, qui enlève le petit frère de Connelly. Le personnage de Connelly se lance ensuite dans un voyage périlleux à travers un domaine fantastique pour sauver son frère, aidé par une troupe de marionnettes emblématiques de Henson.

Cette suite Labyrinth n'est pas le seul projet d'Eggers. Il réalise également un film de loup-garou intitulé Werwulf , prévu pour une sortie de Noël 2026. Les détails sont rares, mais le film se déroule dans l'Angleterre du XIIIe siècle et utilisera le dialogue Old English. Une transformation en une créature lupin est, naturellement, attendue.
